Dropbox developer meetup heads to Seattle after packed NYC event
After launching the DBX Platform last fall, Dropbox followed up its San Francisco meetup with a January event in New York. More than 100 developers RSVP’d, and the NYC office came close to capacity as attendees discussed what the platform can do over pizza and Momofuku cookies.
Engineers from Dow Jones and Fictive Kin joined Dropbox to talk about their API implementations. Dow Jones designed an internal document management workflow using Dropbox as its collaboration and enterprise file sync-and-share layer. Fictive Kin, an engineering and design studio, launched Folder.Market, a product that lets creators sell digital assets stored in Dropbox. The two use cases — one internal workflow built around security and functionality, the other a consumer-facing product for designers — illustrate the breadth of the DBX Platform.
Dropbox is continuing the series based on requests from the developer community. When asked where to hold the next gathering, Seattle topped the poll out of twelve city options.
The Seattle meetup is scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd at Dropbox’s office there. The agenda covers Team Spaces and the Events API, along with a preview of upcoming work. Two Seattle-based partners, Smartsheet and Azuqua, will join a panel discussion.
Dropbox engineers, product managers, and partner managers will be on hand to field questions, hear feedback, and offer office tours. Developers outside Seattle can suggest future locations—Austin, Tokyo, London, Denver, Tel Aviv, and Sydney are all on the table—via this form.
