October Wallpapers, Ready For Download

Autumn colors are arriving, pumpkins are appearing on porches, and it is time to get your desktop ready for the season. For October 2023, artists and designers have again contributed original desktop wallpapers that capture the transition to fall and the approaching Halloween holiday. Every design in this collection is available in two versions: with a calendar for October 2023 and without one. All files can be downloaded at no cost.

The work showcased here comes from the monthly wallpapers challenge, where contributors are given complete creative freedom. The resulting themes are not dictated by any editorial direction; each artist works from their own concept. Clicking any image opens a larger preview.

The selection also reaches into the archives for October wallpapers from earlier years. A few timeless designs have been pulled back out of storage in case you would like to rediscover one of your own favorites from past seasons. If you are an artist or designer, the challenge remains open for future months — submissions can be made through the wallpapers page.

Autumn’s Splendor

Farhan Srambiyan from India describes the seasonal shift as a natural wallpaper subject: the transition brings a rich visual mix of warm color and falling leaves. The design leans into that conventional autumn palette.

Autumn’s Splendor

Downloadable sizes range from 1280x960 up to 2560x1440, in both calendar and no-calendar variants.

City Park Impressions

Stephan Bender’s submission from Germany is rooted in a memory of autumnal city park walks — the colors and moods experienced before winter fully arrives. The wallpaper is an attempt to hold onto those impressions.

Dancing Leaves Of October

Available in a wider range of resolutions starting at 320x480 and reaching 2560x1440, with files provided as JPGs for both calendar- and non-calendar versions.

Foliage And Fossils

WPclerks of India drew on the rich colors of the season for their submission, “Embracing Autumn’s Beauty.” Typography is woven into the image so the calendar remains a useful tool rather than an afterthought. The design is available from

Embracing Autumn’s Beauty
with and without the calendar grid, scaled to fit everything from phone screens to 4K displays.

PopArt Studio from Serbia marks National Fossil Day with a wallpaper that looks back at Earth’s prehistoric life. Fossils tell the story of how organisms evolved, and the design invites you to consider the vast timescale of the natural world. Download either version from

National Fossil Day
— pick between the calendar file for daily use or the clean version for a distraction-free desktop background.

A Poetic Dark Horse

Finally, Lívia Lénárt from Hungary takes a more poetic route with “The Crow And The Ghosts.” The artist’s note — “If my heart were a season, it would be autumn” — sets the tone for a moody illustration that fits the spirit of October. This one skips the calendar entirely, so it is all atmosphere. Grab it from

in sizes ranging from 320x480 up to 3840x2160.

The Atomium Sets the Scene

“We leave the madness of September to begin this October in a much more serene way. We are entering autumn, one of my favorite months, and we travel to Brussels to enjoy the city and be able to walk around while the temperatures allow.” This is how Veronica Valenzuela Jimenez from Spain describes her contribution, which captures a calm autumn stroll against the backdrop of Brussels’ iconic Atomium. The design distills that gentle, pre-winter mood into a wallpaper that feels like a quiet afternoon in the city.

A Classic Fairy Tale Scene

Bhabna Basak from India offers a take on the perennial story that has been told through literature, film, and other media for ages. The familiar arc is intact: a princess falls under a curse — often delivered by an evil fairy or sorceress — and sleeps until a prince who truly loves her arrives to break the spell. The visual leans into the timeless quality of the tale, making it a fitting backdrop for a month that pairs spooky nights with storybook charm.

Sleeping Beauty

Halloween Frights in Full Color

Ricardo Gimenes from Sweden brings the season’s more mischievous side to the screen. His contribution is a direct nod to Halloween, with all the visual cues that make the holiday unmistakable. It is a playful option for anyone looking to lean into the October spirit on their desktop.

Spooky and Seasonal Designs

October's wallpaper collection balances autumnal warmth with eerie, playful touches. Ricardo Gimenes from Sweden contributes Lack Of Self-Reflection, a piece available in a full range of resolutions from 640x480 up to 3840x2160. Both calendar and calendar-free versions can be downloaded.

Lack Of Self-Reflection

Each wallpaper set is offered in both variants:

  • With calendar: 21 resolutions spanning 640x480 to 3840x2160
  • Without calendar: same 21 resolutions available in the nocal folder

A Circular Take on Fall

France-based designer Philippe Brouard offers Oh!ctober, an intentionally busy sketch inspired by autumn's shifting palette. "Fall is a busy period, so I wanted to make a messy drawing," Brouard explains. The composition uses circular, rotating forms that echo the season's cyclical nature and the first letter of the month.

Oh!ctober

This design is distributed as JPG files in ten common display sizes, from 1024x768 through 3840x2160:

  • Preview image
  • With calendar: resolutions including 1280x800, 1440x900, and 2880x1800
  • Without calendar: identical size options in the nocal folder

Notably, the 2560x1440, 2560x1600, 2880x1800, and 3840x2160 sizes match 4K and Retina display requirements, making these wallpapers suitable for higher-density screens as well as standard monitors.

Dreamy Autumn Girl — "Our designers were inspired by the coziness of autumn and the mood that it evokes — the only desire that appears is to put on a warm cozy sweater, take a cup of warm tea, and just enjoy the view outside the window." — Designed by MasterBundles from Ukraine.

Autumn Vibes — "Autumn has come, the time of long walks in the rain, weekends spent with loved ones, with hot drinks, and a lot of tenderness. Enjoy." — Designed by LibraFire from Serbia.

Goddess Makosh — "At the end of the kolodar, as everything begins to ripen, the village sets out to harvesting. Together with the farmers goes Makosh, the Goddess of fields and crops, ensuring a prosperous harvest. What she gave her life and health all year round is now mature and rich, thus, as a sign of gratitude, the girls bring her bread and wine. The beautiful game of the goddess makes the hard harvest easier, while the song of the farmer permeates the field." — Designed by PopArt Studio from Serbia.

Bird Migration Portal — "October is a significant month for me because it is when my favorite type of bird travels south. For that reason I have chosen to write about the swallow. When I was young, I had a bird's nest not so far from my room window. I watched the birds almost every day; because those swallows always left their nests in October. As a child, I dreamt that they all flew together to a nicer place, where they were not so cold." — Designed by Eline Claeys from Belgium.

Game Night And Hot Chocolate — "To me, October is all about cozy evenings with hot chocolate, freshly baked cookies, and a game night with friends or family." — Designed by Lieselot Geirnaert from Belgium.

First Scarf And The Beach — "When I was little, my parents always took me and my sister for a walk at the beach in Nieuwpoort, we didn't really do those beach walks in the summer but always when the sky started to turn grey and the days became colder. My sister and I always took out our warmest scarfs and played in the sand while my parents walked behind us. I really loved those Saturday or Sunday mornings where we were all together. I think October (when it's not raining) is the perfect month to go to the beach for 'uitwaaien' (to blow out), to walk in the wind and take a break and clear your head, relieve the stress or forget one's problems." — Designed by Gwen Bogaert from Belgium.
