Fresh Wallpapers for June 2023

The design community's long-running monthly wallpaper project returns with a new batch of work for June 2023. As always, the series is an open invitation: stepping away from daily tasks to build something purely visual is a rewarding creative exercise. This month's collection reflects that spirit, bringing together work from artists and designers who each took the prompt in a different direction.

Every wallpaper below is available as a free download in two variants: one including a June 2023 calendar and one without. The files come in a range of common resolutions, so finding a fit for your display shouldn't take long. Just click any preview image to inspect the full design before you download.

A quick note on the series itself: participating artists get complete freedom in choosing their subject matter, which is why no two designs in the set share a theme. Also, if you would like to see your own work featured in a future post, submissions are always open.

Veronica Valenzuela’s contribution from Spain heads to the Caribbean. Her wallpaper pictures Havana at dawn from the Malecón, capturing a city waking up to another long summer day. The artwork leans into the relaxing possibilities of the season, before getting into the flow of Cuba’s famous evenings.

For something more precise, Viktor Hanacek from Czechia offers a touch of nature. Working with a Sony A7II and an FE 90mm F2.8 Macro lens, he focuses on a blue butterfly, making a case for the beauty of close-up photography.

Milk as a Design Muse

World Milk Day, observed annually, spotlights the everyday staple that often goes unnoticed. A design team from Serbia, PopArt Studio, interprets the occasion with a graphic that celebrates milk's versatility: “Whether enjoyed on its own, added to a smoothie, or used to create mouthwatering recipes, milk is a versatile and wholesome ingredient that deserves to be celebrated.”

For the longest day of the year, PopArt Studio returns with “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The Serbian studio jokes about being landlocked and dreaming of tidal waves and the beach, and asks what your midsummer night holds. James Mitchell from United Kingdom similarly honors the solstice with a “Solstice Sunset,” marking that after June 21 sunsets come earlier in the Northern Hemisphere.
