Data-driven construction: CORE’s path to faster, more reliable insights

CORE Construction, a technology-driven construction management firm with over 1,200 employees and $1.3 billion in annual revenue, has built its operations around a strict set of standards it calls Operational Excellence (OPEX). Delivering on that promise requires developers to ship innovative solutions that keep pace with a business of this scale—especially when it comes to internal data tools.

Replacing an unstable first iteration

CORE’s internal Business Insights (BI) platform originally ran on AWS. As the tool became more widely used across the organization, it became clear that the company needed a dedicated product solution that could reliably support its stakeholders. The move to Vercel brought a more stable delivery pipeline and allowed the team to operate more efficiently—an important factor given the volume of data the company must process to stay on track.

With Vercel, CORE now builds a custom, mission-critical BI application that can handle its growth without sacrificing performance or uptime.

A unified platform for transparency

Adopting Vercel gave CORE a single platform for the entire company’s data experience. With shared tools and greater transparency, the team has reduced friction, addressed pain points, and eliminated bottlenecks that previously slowed work down.

“The biggest thing for our users is to have up-to-date and reliable data. That is number one,” says Producer Jason Deutsch. “Having the flexibility to serve pages quickly through Static Site Generation and using Server Side Rendering on project-specific pages has been especially helpful.”

Faster feedback, fewer regressions

Vercel’s Preview Deployments have been key to improving collaboration and cutting deployment times. The feature ensures the team is always shipping good code without regressions, while also building trust between teams. Since previews are simple URLs, no training is required—anyone from a VP to a CEO can open a link and provide input directly.

That workflow has accelerated CORE’s release cycle to weekly updates and larger monthly milestones. “We’re working a lot faster,” says Deutsch, “and building the right things.”

Faster builds as the company grows

Performance gains have compounded as CORE upgraded through Next.js versions. Moving from Next.js 10 to 11 and then to 12 reduced build times from 30 minutes to 14. That speed is what allows the company to keep innovating, push construction forward with data-driven decisions, and maintain the high standard of Operational Excellence its customers expect.
