A Builder’s Move: Why I’m Joining Cloudflare
Early in my career, a mentor told me to get into a transformative industry. That guidance has shaped my path ever since, leading me from biotechnology to Amazon, where I joined when it was primarily a retailer rather than the technology giant it is today.
At Amazon, I led HR across some of its most technical operations, from eCommerce to AWS. Over the next decade, I became fully dedicated to AWS, serving as a thought partner to its CEO and leadership team as the organization scaled from 400 employees to 30,000. That experience crystallized my focus: building companies means building careers, and doing so in a way that deliberately reinforces both mission and culture.
From there, I took those lessons to Tableau as Chief Human Resource Officer, designing the talent strategy to support its next phase of growth before its acquisition by Salesforce.
Why Cloudflare
Now, as a two-time Chief People Officer, I am drawn to Cloudflare’s mission to “help to build a better Internet.” Three factors made this decision straightforward.
The technology
Cloudflare is a next generation disruptor, delivering security, availability, and scalability without compromising speed. Its role as a partner to businesses advancing generative AI puts it at the center of a transformative moment in tech.
The values
Throughout the interview process, it was clear that Cloudflare genuinely values both its customers and its employees. The transparency and deliberate attention to scaling a special workplace resonated with me. I approach my work through the lens of its impact on people, leaders, and customers, and that alignment is essential for creating a people strategy that supports high-growth business objectives.
The culture
Culture is often reduced to handbooks and wall posters. At its best, it is both innate and carefully nurtured by leaders who demonstrate values through action. That is what I found here. The organization runs on transparency, trust, and curiosity, and the people I met were warm, humble, and bright.
As I step into this role, my first priority is to learn as much as I can about Cloudflare’s people-first culture and ensure the People team’s work aligns with it. I look forward to helping Cloudflare scale and flourish—and to helping build meaningful careers for everyone on the team.
