Year-End Training: A Night of Breakfalls

To wrap up the year’s training, the dojo pushed through a marathon session of breakfalls last night. David-sensei set the absolute ceiling at 1500, leaving it to each person to choose their own target. My own conservative guess was 100, but I wound up completing 1007—a combination of rolls and back-breakfalls, performed both from throws and in organized sets. The full session spanned roughly five hours, leaving me sore yet deeply satisfied by the end.

The ride home turned into a surreal obstacle course: trees snapped over concrete soundwalls and miles of branches floated in two inches of standing water. Though my map labels these routes as "streets," they seemed far happier serving as streams.
