Sampling Error: A Photographic Book Handcrafted From Scratch

After 10 weeks of work, aphyr has completed a new book titled Sampling Error: Stochastic Perturbations to Reality. The project examines the link between measurement in physical science and photography as an act of measurement.

Layout work was done in Scribus, an open-source desktop publishing tool, with photographs printed through a local print shop. The author also cut woodcuts and set type by hand before folding, binding, and casing the six complete copies.

The finished books are now being distributed to friends and family. As the author puts it, "I’m really happy."
