November Wallpapers: Community Artwork for Your Desktop

As the days grow shorter and grayer in many parts of the world, a little color on your screen can go a long way. For November 2020, designers from around the globe have contributed a fresh set of wallpapers to the ongoing community collection. Each design is available in versions with and without a November calendar, and all downloads are free.

The collection continues a long-running monthly tradition. Artists are given complete creative freedom; Smashing Magazine does not influence the themes or subject matter of the submissions. This open approach has produced a wide variety of styles over the years, and the archive holds a trove of past November entries worth revisiting as well.

All preview images can be clicked to view the full wallpaper. The artworks are also open for submission: designers with ideas for December are invited to contribute their work to the series.

A Nobel Year for Einstein

Albert Einstein’s influence on modern physics is hard to overstate. His career spanned half a century and produced more than 300 scientific papers, covering general and special relativity, the photoelectric effect, mass-energy equivalence, the EPR paradox, and more. On November 9, 1921, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics, and this wallpaper marks the anniversary with a cartoonish tribute that incorporates his most famous contribution, E = mc². Designed by PopArt Studio from Serbia.

Don’t Let Gray Win

“Let’s take extra care of colors during the autumn months. November might be gray and rainy. Outside. Don’t let it inside. Take a good book, prepare a hot ginger tea, and cover your knees with a bright woolen plaid.” — Designed by Tartanify from France.
