Bees, But Make It Strategy
In the world of insects, Psithyrus stands out as a particularly aggressive anomaly. Unlike typical bees, these species have no worker caste—every female is a potential conqueror.
Their lifecycle reads like a hostile takeover: a Psithyrus female first feeds on flowers, then infiltrates an established host colony. Once inside, she eliminates or subdues the resident queen. Using a mix of chemical signals and outright force, she bends the existing workers to her will, compelling them to raise her own offspring. Her young eventually fly off to mate, and the new females repeat the cycle by assaulting fresh colonies.
The more one studies bees, the clearer it becomes: the groundwork for a brutal real-time strategy game is already laid out in nature.
