Bells, Hogwarts, and a Midwestern Morning
On a crisp autumn morning, with midwestern trees in full color and cool sunlight casting sharp shadows across the pavement, one student’s walk to the dining hall took an unexpected turn. Students bundled in warm coats were streaming toward the chapel for convocation when the familiar chime from the campus bell tower resolved into something far less academic: the Hogwarts theme from Harry Potter.
The realization that the half-familiar melody wasn’t the tower’s usual sonorous intonation sparked a moment of pure delight.
I love this place.
