Welcome December With New Desktop Wallpapers

December is almost here, and with it comes the familiar end-of-year rush of deadlines and holiday preparations. For a bit of visual breathing room in the middle of that busy stretch, our monthly wallpaper collection offers a fresh set of wintery designs. Now in its fourteenth year, the series gives designers a creative outlet and gives you a way to add some seasonal atmosphere to your screen.

The works below were created from scratch by artists around the world, with no thematic constraints from us. Learning As Art And Science

As the year winds down, designers everywhere turn their attention toward fresh starts and organizing for the year ahead. This December, one wallpaper carries a reminder from Katherine Johnson to take that preparation seriously: “I like to learn. It’s an art and a science.” Designed by Veronica Valenzuela Jimenez from Spain, the piece offers a calm, thoughtful backdrop plus wise words easy to keep in sight.

The House On The River Drina

For something a little quieter, PopArt Studio from Serbia finds inspiration in a landmark of quiet solitude: a famous house perched on the River Drina in Bajina Bašta.

This particular piece is a bit of a thought experiment for those craving a distraction-free workspace. The tranquility of the scene conjures the appeal of existing away from civilization, with no neighbors to bother you. One sentiment shared by the designers is a practical caveat regarding the fantasy: "Not sure about the Internet, though…"

From the Kitchen to the Snow

Maria Keller, a designer from Mexico, captures the spirit of holiday baking with her "Christmas Cookies" wallpaper. The cheerful design embraces the tradition of sharing love through homemade treats.

Gyaneshwari Dave from the United States found inspiration right outside her patio. In "Cardinals In Snowfall," she celebrates the bright red of cardinal birds against white flurries, paired with the brown and black tones of dry twigs and fallen leaves. The hand-illustrated pattern draws on the symbolism of cardinals as signs of faith and warmth during the cold, colorless days of winter.

The Hannon Group, based in Washington D.C., captures the essence of winter comfort with a design that celebrates firelight, blankets, and good company. The artwork leans into the idea of hygge — creating warmth and coziness as the days grow shorter. It pairs well with any desktop setup where a calm, snug atmosphere is welcome during the darker months.
