Config goes transatlantic in 2025

Figma’s annual gathering for product builders is expanding to two continents this year. Config 2025 will run as a three-day summit in San Francisco from May 6–8, followed by a single-day London event at ExCeL on May 14. Both events are designed to serve the same community, with distinct programming tailored to each audience.

San Francisco: a block-wide kickoff

The U.S. event opens on May 6 at Config Commons, an outdoor community space taking over the entire Howard Street block outside Moscone Center. Attendees pick up badges there or at any of the partner hotels across the city offering check-in. The main programming runs May 7–8 across Moscone Center, with more than 75 speakers scheduled over 50-plus sessions.

Figma says it redesigned the Moscone layout based on attendee feedback about the value of informal conversations and unexpected moments. The expanded Maker Space now includes a dedicated stage for Figma community leaders to present recent work, and the floor plan is arranged to keep movement fluid between talks, meals, and installations. Multi-track scheduling means attendees can assemble their own agenda rather than following a single linear program.

Registration for the San Francisco event remains open, both for in-person attendance and for virtual participation.

London: a first for Europe

Held the following week at ExCeL London, the European edition is a deliberately more compact affair: a curated program of more than 15 speakers across 10 sessions. In-person tickets are sold out, but virtual registration is still available.

The choice of London follows last year’s Config-adjacent community connection in Singapore and reflects the city’s combination of design heritage and a mature technology sector, which Figma sees as the right context for reaching Europe’s product-building community.

Four tracks for the craft-and-code era

Last year’s Config introduced Figma AI, UI3, and Figma Slides. The 2025 program looks outward from those tools to broader questions about creative practice: how human judgment survives in an AI-augmented workflow, and what designing means when the output can be a prompt as easily as a pixel. Sessions fall into four tracks:

  • Design craft — scaling design systems, reimagining product experiences, and rebuilding visual foundations.
  • Dev & code — engineering stories in which technical constraints drive creative results, echoing talks like Josh Wardle’s account of building Wordle.
  • Product building & management — frameworks and hard-won lessons for shipping thoughtful work.
  • Figma deep dives — practical techniques and refined workflows for bringing ideas to life.

Both events will again feature simultaneous interpretation and captioning. The language list now spans French, German, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American and European Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Polish.

The background is a pale off-white, giving the objects a clean and minimalistic look.

Community takes the stage

Registration for community-led events—watch parties, local meetups, design sprints, or anything else that gathers builders—opens in March 2025. Figma promises to publish details on the official Config site and connect organizers with nearby attendees. The company points to last year’s grassroots gatherings, from organized group dinners to a pickup basketball game, as proof that off-program activities are a core part of the Config experience.

A global (and hybrid) invitation

Between the two in-person events, the virtual program, and independently organized local gatherings, Config 2025 is structured as a distributed event rather than a single destination. Attendees can mix Formats according to geography and schedule; full details and registration links are available at config.figma.com.

Prominent messages read "Everything is a draft" on a yellow note, "live laugh design" on a pink heart, and "Figma slides!" on a green thumbs-up. The collection exudes creativity and positivity, with phrases and symbols written in different colors.
