CYPEX is a rapid application development tool for turning PostgreSQL data into internal dashboards and reports. The scenarios below show how it has been applied to HR, GIS-backed livestock monitoring and online shopping databases.
HR applications at Propafisa
The farming management company Propafisa built a set of internal apps on CYPEX to control HR data, produce employee salary reports and display employee records together with current status, position and similar fields.
Salary summary and salary receipt
The end-of-month salary summary app is shown below.

The employee salary receipt was produced by feeding data from the CYPEX application into an external reporting application.

Employee information
The basic HR app covers the employee information database, including internal employee files with names, length of employment, job title and other attributes. CYPEX makes it easy to display several tables from the database alongside one another and to shift the results as required.

Livestock location and inventory with PostGIS
Locating animals on a ranch
Combined with PostGIS, CYPEX supports locator apps for ranch animals such as cattle and sheep. Once the livestock are chipped, a GIS sensor reports their positions, which CYPEX presents in a dashboard.

Inventory graphs
The same livestock data can be used to create inventory graphs.

Perimeter alarms and tracking history
Alarms for barrier areas
PostGIS and CYPEX can also define barrier areas: when an animal crosses out of the allowed perimeter, an alarm is triggered by email.

Tracking history
The tracking history of an individual cow or sheep on the ranch can be displayed in the same way.

Internet shopping databases
Three setups cover internet shopping databases and other external applications built with CYPEX's rapid application development software.
Scenario 1: shared database access
A CYPEX-built application and an online shopping application both access the same database.

CYPEX can access and display the same data the shopping application sees, which makes it possible to keep inventory, assess sales and perform similar tasks. One example is an internally used app that displays shoe sales inventory data.

Scenario 2: access via an API
A custom-made internet application reaches a CYPEX-built internal application through an API.

Here CYPEX is the indirect intermediary to the database and the shopping application never accesses the database directly. The Propafisa salaries report described above used a similar arrangement.
Scenario 3: PostgreSQL alongside a non-PG database
A PostgreSQL database communicates with a non-PG database connected to an online shop, and the data is then processed through a CYPEX-developed app.
