Scroll issues under the microscope: Chrome team launches follow-up survey
After reviewing the 2019 Mozilla Developer Network Web DNA Report, a subgroup on the Chrome team has focused on a cluster of reported pain points around scrolling behavior. Those findings have now been distilled into a new survey aimed at developers and designers who build and style scrollable interfaces.
What triggered the new survey
The team pulled out issues related to scrolling, scroll-snap, and touch-action from the DNA report and studied them further. The follow-up survey is designed to probe those topics more precisely than the original report allowed, with responses intended to guide browser vendors and web standards groups toward practical improvements.
How to participate
Anyone working with web scrolling experiences is invited to respond. The survey is expected to take no more than 10 minutes, and the Chrome team says it's structured to respect respondents' time. You can take part via the 2021 Web Scrolling Survey. The collected answers will help shape priorities for making scrolling better for developers, designers, and ultimately end users.
