A Spotlight on Business App Integrations
Dropbox for Business is built for teams that need to collaborate on work files, and there are signs that the approach is catching on with more than two million businesses using Dropbox in a professional setting. On top of that, countless individuals rely on Dropbox to manage their personal work and projects.
For power users, the workflow boost has often come from hooking Dropbox up to third-party apps. The Dropbox developer community has built more than 100,000 apps on the platform, offering a long list of ways to extend file storage and sharing beyond the core client. The new Dropbox for Business apps page highlights a handful of those integrations for teams that are just starting to explore what linked apps can do.
The featured apps all connect to Dropbox differently, which is a useful reminder of the range the platform allows. Smartsheet, for example, added the Chooser to its web app using just a few lines of JavaScript, letting users pull files directly into spreadsheets. On the other side of the spectrum, CloudOn relies on the Core API to bring the complete Dropbox experience into its cloud-based productivity suite. What these two have in common, along with thousands of other Dropbox-linked applications, is the goal of making users more productive. The intent is to let people work efficiently from anywhere by combining the strengths of the apps they prefer with Dropbox storage.
