GitHub’s student streamers expand Campus TV lineup
The GitHub Education Stream Team (GEST) is growing its roster of student-hosted shows on Campus TV. The program, which launched last year, now spans weekly broadcasts from multiple regions, covering everything from live coding battles to career-focused game shows. Beyond entertainment, the streams aim to connect learners with resources, mentors, and communities relevant to their stage in the developer journey.
What in the tech do I do: career paths beyond the usual titles
Computer science graduate Iqrah Nadeem created What in the tech do I do to help peers who, like her, are figuring out what comes after graduation. Inspired by live game shows on streaming platforms, Nadeem turned the format into a hangman-style guessing game where guests reveal unconventional tech job titles. Recent episodes have featured roles such as a music and sound technology lawyer, with students and industry professionals joining to discuss less obvious career trajectories.
The show airs Fridays at 5pm UTC+1 on Campus TV. Nadeem also acknowledges the realities of producing live content—her first episode hit technical snags—and points viewers to the GitHub Virtual Event Kit, a free toolkit for running online events without the usual glitches.
Hadith Tech: spotlighting MENA technologists
Abdurrahman Rajab launched Hadith Tech to address a gap he noticed in tech media: a lack of relatable, regionally representative speakers. The show, streamed in Arabic, features technologists from the MENA region who share language, culture, and lived experience with the audience. Rajab argues that seeing someone like yourself on stage matters, and that it rarely happens in mainstream tech content.
Guests so far include Mahmoud A. Rabo, founder of the UX writing and content design community @uxwritingAr; Hasan Aljabbouli, a Syrian professor now teaching at New York University’s Courant Institute with two granted patents; and Walid Ziouche, who contributed to Arabic web translation projects. Beyond appearing on the show, these guests have provided feedback and mentorship to Rajab as he develops the program. Hadith Tech streams Sundays at 7pm GMT+3.
Ota’s Live: interactive coding duels in Portuguese
Hosts Otávio Reis Perkles and Otacilio Saraiva Maia Neto are behind Ota’s Live, a Portuguese-language show built around live coding challenges. Unlike passive tutorial streams, the format pits creators against each other in real time while the hosts explain the code and field questions from chat. The audience is encouraged to interact—distracting the competitors is apparently part of the fun—and the show is pitched at viewers of all skill levels.
Perkles said he wanted to create content he would consume himself; early competitors announced for the show include pokemaobr and xTenca. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
