A Direct Line to the Workers Team
Cloudflare Workers now has an official Discord server, giving developers a direct channel to the team behind the platform. You can join at discord.com/invite/cloudflaredev. The space is designed for asking questions, sharing projects, and discussing the platform with other developers.
The official developer documentation remains the definitive reference for how Workers behaves, but the team recognizes that sometimes you need a faster, more human answer. Discord fills that gap with real-time conversation.
From Sandbox to Ecosystem
Workers has come a long way from its origins as a sandbox for enterprise customers running edge code. Over three years, it has grown into a platform for building and deploying entire applications and systems.
The bet on Workers has paid off for at least one major customer. "We bet our whole business on Workers and it paid off big time," said Hamlet Batista, CEO of SEO automation platform RankSense. "We've been saving a lot of money on infrastructure costs and DevOps resources we no longer need."
Use cases continue to surprise the team. One developer in Belgium built a static Workers site that offers a three-language tutorial on making face masks, and the project earned official approval from the Belgian government.
Why Discord Fits
Discord's appeal for this purpose stems from two traits: it lets users speak freely while staying anonymous, and it is fast. The speed is partly attributable to Cloudflare itself—Discord routes nearly all of its traffic through Workers.
"Workers are in the path of virtually all Discord requests," said Mark Smith, Director of Infrastructure at Discord. "We are longtime users of Workers and big fans of the power and flexibility they give us to continue building great things for our users."
