AWS and Vercel formalize AI tooling pact

Vercel has been named a partner under a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with AWS, a three-year investment aimed at advancing AI-enabled developer tooling. The announcement follows v0’s debut on AWS Marketplace and Vercel’s presence at AWS re:Invent 2024, where its partnership team met with developers and hosted customer events.

The SCA covers several Vercel products, including:

  • v0.dev: AI-powered assistant for generating frontend layouts, components, and code.
  • AI SDK: Open source SDK for AI apps with Generative UI support, including an Amazon Bedrock provider.
  • AI Integrations: One-click connections to models such as GPT-3, Pinecone, and others.
  • AI Templates: Prebuilt projects that combine popular frontend frameworks with AI setup.

The goal, per Vercel, is to streamline AI integration for everyone from individual developers to enterprise teams handling billions in transactions, using Vercel’s managed infrastructure and DX platform.

Vercel VP of Partnerships Jen Chang was a panelist for "Power of Partnerships to Scale with AWS" at re:Invent.

v0 lands on AWS Marketplace

v0 Enterprise is now purchasable directly through AWS Marketplace, letting AWS account holders start building with v0 without a separate procurement flow. Buying via AWS Marketplace unlocks Vercel features tailored for several use cases:

  • Technical support and code generation: debugging, test writing, and React UI generation with third-party libraries.
  • Product and feature planning: iterating on ideas in the context of an existing web app.
  • Prototyping and design: building animations, 3D assets, and interactive mockups aligned with a team’s stack.
  • Sales and marketing: quick landing pages or customer-specific demos.

Retail and consumer goods specializations

Vercel has also earned AWS Retail and Consumer Goods Competencies. The Consumer Goods Competency is a newer AWS specialization spotlighting partners with modern technology offerings; the Retail Competency recognizes partners delivering innovative solutions for retail customers.

The designations reflect work Vercel and AWS have already done with joint ecommerce customers like Ruggable and Hydrow. As a partner in both categories, Vercel positions itself around fast, cost-efficient, AI-ready web experiences for commerce brands.

The broader message from Vercel: pairing its framework-defined infrastructure with AWS’s cloud services is intended to give developers a coherent path for shipping AI and ecommerce applications.
