Meta’s Caddy brings CAD into mixed reality
Caddy, a new computer-aided design app for mixed reality, was built by a team of mechanical engineers who wanted an alternative to reviewing 3D models as flat images over Zoom. The team discusses the project on the Meta Tech Podcast with host Pascal Hartig, covering how they taught themselves to code, their push to disrupt the CAD software market, and how they integrated Caddy with Llama 3.
The app is available to download now on Meta’s platform. The full podcast episode is also live on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, PocketCasts, Overcast, and Castro. The Meta Tech Podcast, produced by Meta, highlights the work of the company’s engineers across everything from low-level frameworks to end-user features. Feedback can be sent via Instagram, Threads, or X, and career opportunities are listed on the Meta Careers page.
