An Accessible, AI-Powered Universe

GitHub Universe is returning for its annual conference, with both an in-person event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and a free virtual track. The organizing team has built accessibility into the event from the ground up, aiming to welcome developers of all abilities over the two-day program.

Planned accommodations at the venue and on broadcasts include:

  • Reserved seating for all in-person talks
  • ASL interpretation for broadcasts, with additional coverage on request for on-site attendees
  • Real-time English captions for most sessions, plus a limited supply of assistive listening devices at in-person presentations
  • Live translation in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and French on all streamed sessions
  • Digital menus shared in advance
  • A quiet space and a Mother’s Room
  • A designated relief area for service animals

Attendees with needs beyond this list can specify them during registration or reach the team directly at [email protected]. In-person visitors can also stop by the Accessibility booth, located near registration at the Mission Street entrance.

Guests and Sessions on Accessibility

The conference will also host students from AccessComputing, a National Science Foundation-funded alliance focused on broadening participation of people with disabilities in computing. GitHub is an industry partner, and the event will serve as an opportunity to deepen that relationship through networking and shared sessions.
