A Free Vector Icon Set for COVID-19 Awareness Materials
Designers working on public information campaigns have a new resource: a free set of 56 vector icons focused on COVID-19. Created by the team at graphicsurf.com, with design work from Anthony Tyschenko and Dennis Machuca, the collection is intended to save time for anyone producing visual materials that inform the public. The icons cover common scenarios: reminders to wear masks and maintain distance, wayfinding for testing sites, and badges indicating disinfected surfaces in hotels or restaurants.

From Paper Sketches to Vector Files
The design process ran in two distinct phases. Initial sketches were first drawn on paper, then digitized using Paint Tool SAI 2. Once the complete set of sketches was approved, the work shifted to Adobe Illustrator, where the icons were refined and polished to their final state.

The icons were designed with attention to detail, but also with fast modification in mind. You can adjust paths, stroke width, or corner radius directly in Adobe Illustrator with minimal effort. The package ships with:

All icons are visually balanced against each other. You can control stroke weight and corner rounding at any size by regular scaling, or use the Scale tool for proportional scaling.

The editors at Smashing Magazine note that the set is royalty-free for personal and commercial projects, but ask that designers credit the creators and link back when sharing or featuring the work.
